MULTI-FRAME 2nd webinar: Opening up ocean multi-use Research
MULTI-FRAME's second webinar took place on Friday 28 May 2021. This event aimed at discussing the advances of ocean multi-use research in a global perspective. As a first step, Josselin Guyot-Téphany (University of Nantes) presented the main results of MULTI-FRAME's online survey, highlighting the common features and the differences between investigations dealing with marine uses combinations and multiple-use marine protected areas. Then, he invited 4 researchers to present their own work on participation and planning processes in multiple user context:
- Participation meets politics, power, property and the planet: what we have been trying to co-learn over the last decade. Richard LE HERON - Emeritus professor, University of Auckland (New Zealand)
- Rezoning the Great Barrier Reef: the significant role of public participation in this successful policy reform. Jon DAY - Adjunct senior research fellow, ARC Center of Excellence of Coral Reef Studies (Australia)
- Conflicts and synergies between the sitting of offshore wind farms and marine recreation and tourism sectors. Júlia Terra Miranda Machado - PhD Candidate, National University of Ireland
-Targeting multi-use MSP in a socially sustainable way: lessons from the Mediterranean. Stella Kyvelou - Professor, Panteion University of Social and political Sciences (Greece), Eastern-Mediterranean Sea-basin expert for the European MSP Platform
